Six new cases, death toll remains at 121

National

Malaysia recorded six new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday (July 7), bringing the total number of infections to 8,674. Health Ministry director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said out of the six new cases, four were imported cases who were all Malaysians infected abroad. The remaining two new cases were locally transmitted and involved two Malaysians, in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor respectively, he said in a statement.

Covid-19: Five new cases, no new deaths for over 3 weeks

Malaysia recorded five new cases on Monday (July 6), of which three are imported cases. Cumulatively, the country has a total of 8,668 infections, said Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah at the ministry’s Covid-19 press conference here. One of the two local transmission cases was detected from a community screening conducted by a district health office in Kuala Lumpur.

Ismail Sabri: Over 10,400 Malaysian students, retrenched workers possibly stranded abroad with no way of coming home

Nearly half a million Malaysians are currently stranded outside the country due to various travel restrictions during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and Wisma Putra has been tasked to look into bringing them home, Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said today. He said Wisma Putra has identified 10,484 Malaysians to be students or retrenched workers who may be stuck abroad with no way of returning home due to strict standard operating procedures (SOPs) enforced in their respective countries, which made repatriation difficult or impossible.
