Immigration Dept ready for Aug 17 Johor-Singapore border reopening

The Johor Immigration Department is fully prepared to handle traffic across Johor Strait again next Monday when Malaysia and Singapore begin the Reciprocal Green Lane (RGL) and Periodic Commuting Arrangement (PCA) travel. Its director Baharuddin Tahir said applications for the conditional scheme for both the RGL and PCA on August 17, 18 and 18 are fully taken up. “We will only allow 400 a week or 50 or 60 people a day for RGL which is open to all nationalities and 2,000 people a day under the PCA which is for Malaysian and Singaporean citizens only.

Opposition MPs ask Johor govt to bear quarantine costs for the poor

If the federal government is unwilling to cover the quarantine costs for poor Johoreans who want to return from Singapore, the Johor state government has the responsibility to do so. Akmal Nasir (PKR - Johor Baru) said the Johor administration should emulate the Sarawak state government which bears the total quarantine costs for all Sarawakians returning to the state.

Cops: 29 issued compounds for failing to wear face masks in Johor

Johor

Up to 29 individuals have been issued compounds in Johor for not wearing face masks in public transport and crowded places. Johor police chief Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said 26 compounds were issued in Kota Tinggi district, while another three were in Iskandar Puteri. It follows checks conducted by police at 389 public places from yesterday until 12pm today.
